Richard James is back, as twisted electronic outfit Aphex Twin, he created some of the darkest experimental electronica ever and in the process has influenced everyone from noisy rock bands to edm djs. Fans have been begging for a new record since starting a kickstarter campaign to convince the artist to do so. Before announcing the album they were treated to a new tease, when a mini zeppelin bearing the Aphex logo flew over London. New track 'Minipops 67 (source field mix)' combines deep bass kicks with smooth vocals, solidifying that this is still definitely a Warp Records act, and definitely an Aphex Twin record. This is however a new face, to a truly influential act. Since last record 'Drukqs' the scene surrounding Warp Records, of experimental and almost inaccessible electronica, has done nothing but grow. With the success of acts like Crystal Castles, Health, Caribou, Battles, Four Tet and SBTKRT, this can be nothing but welcome news to many fans on the scene. Many of which won't of ever had the chance to see perhaps their biggest influence perform. Watch out for a tour! Our bets are on Reading & Leeds 2015.
